Morphing the Courthouse

In Courthouse Connections, we identify a number of features from H. H. Richardson's Allegheny County Courthouse that can be found on Shadyside Church's lantern tower.  Here we pictorially demonstrate that claim.

First, start with a corner pavillion at the Courthouse.

Next, remove everything that is not pavillion.

Take the dormer at the top of the building's facade, move it up the pyramid roof and give it hip roof.

Add two more round arch windows just below the roof.

Change the triplet windows to stained glass and subdivide them.

Extrude a transept with a gable roof.

The Courthouse has been morphed to Shadyside Church.
